How we judge booking pressure
No official source publishes a complete “Japan sell-out ranking”. We therefore use transparent editorial signals: limited capacity, a drawing rather than direct purchase, a short application period, a small number of dated sessions, high international awareness and the cost of replacing the experience.
These signals do not prove that one item always sells before another. A weekday slot may remain while a holiday date disappears. A table for two may behave differently from a table for six. A view at noon is not the same inventory as sunset.

Reservations with the highest planning pressure
Tier A: enter or act when the official stage opens
The Nintendo Museum uses a drawing. The constraint is not merely speed; it is making a correct application during the official period, monitoring the result and completing purchase if selected.
Ghibli Museum and Ghibli Park use monthly releases with limited dated capacity. They are separate venues and products. Give each a backup date in the same base before changing the wider route.
Katsura Imperial Villa can use a drawing when official tour applications exceed capacity. The guided format, age rule and limited sessions make it a genuine process, not an open-entry garden.
Destination restaurants such as Den and Kikunoi Honten have small service capacity and strict confirmation/cancellation conditions. They are high pressure only when that exact meal matters to you.
Tier B: popular timed or date-specific inventory
Tokyo Disney parks, USJ, Super Nintendo World, teamLab, Shibuya Sky, Pokémon Café, Kirby Café and Studio Tour Tokyo can all create pressure on particular dates or times. Their systems are not interchangeable: some have calculated advance sales, others live calendars.

Moderate-pressure and flexible bookings
Transport often has high consequence without always having the highest demand. A Tokyo–Kawaguchiko return on a fixed day can matter because alternatives change the excursion.
